Governor Robert Bentley is recommending a compromise solution for the future of Jefferson County's Cooper Green Mercy Hospital.
The governor says he understands the need for changes to the structure of how the indigent care facility is operated.
However, Bentley wants all sides to give a little.
"It's going to have to be downsized," says Bentley. "But I want Jefferson County to still have an indigent hospital. I love Cooper Green, but there needs to be some changes."
A tentative date for the closure of inpatient care is for December 1.
