Governor Bentley to Participate in E-Fairness Panel Discussion

Governor Robert Bentley will participate in a panel discussion today, focusing on potential federal tax laws and their expected impact on the state and its retailers. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Robert Robicheaux, chair of the Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution and Economics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.{} Dr. Robicheaux is the author of a recent study that estimated the state could lose $1 billion in unpaid taxes that are owed from online purchases unless preventive measures are taken.

Governor Bentley will be joined on the panel by Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, Jason Brewer of the Retail Industry Leaders Association, and George Wilder, owner of The Locker Room clothing stores in Montgomery and Auburn. The discussion will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Glen Iris Room at The Club in Birmingham.
