Governor Robert Bentley forms task force to encourage career readiness

Alabama finds itself at the top of the heap when it comes to the automotive industry. But the goal is not to stop there. Governor Robert Bentley believes the path to business recruitment lies in the ability to better train students for the workforce.

The governor established the College and Career Ready Task Force. The belief is that it will translate into more and better paying careers. He says everybody has to take ownership in this to make it work.

Governor Bentley believes the task force{} will close the gap between skills employees have and skills employers need.

Through this task force, business leaders are urged to meet routinely with educators and discuss the types of skills they need.

Representatives in k-12 schools, community colleges, and four-year colleges will work with the businesses community, come up with new ideas for workforce development, and make recommendations to the governor.

Governor Bentley says the end result will be more people with well-paying jobs.
