Gadsden woman, 52, shot and killed in St. Clair County (Update)

ASHVILLE, Ala. -- The St. Clair County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal shooting Friday night as 52-year-old Carolyn Browning, of Gadsden.

Browning died after being shot in the face at a home on Maverick Drive in Ashville shortly after 6 p.m. Authorities have yet to release details surrounding the shooting as an investigation remains ongoing.

ASHVILLE, Ala. -- Authorities in St. Clair County continue to investigate a shooting Friday night that left a 52-year-old woman dead.

According to relatives of the victim, the woman suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the face at a home on Maverick Drive. A 13-year-old boy was inside the home at the time of the incident, but it is unclear at this time if he had any involvement in the shooting.

The death left family heartbroken and stricken with grief as law enforcement, including Altoona police, attempt to determine exactly what led to the shooting.{}

The county coroner told ABC 33/40 that the victim will be taken to a forensics lab on Monday for an autopsy.

Investigators are expected to release more information about the case in the near future.
