Dozens of people gathered in Kelly Ingram Park, Saturday afternoon, supporting Medicaid and the people it affects.
Groups including the NAACP and The Progressive Democrats of America planned the rally.
Organizers say Governor Robert Bentley's refusal to accept federal Medicaid funds will greatly impact working, poor families.
"People that have jobs, but don't make a lot of money...you combine that with the business affect which would create a lot of jobs," Grayson Brown said. "It's a good deal. So, we encourage the governor to accept it."
Kim Denmark, who is right now walking across America to bring attention to homelessness and poverty, was also at Saturday's rally.
