Gun rights bills head to the legislature
Republicans and Democrats alike have bills to expand gun owners' rights lined up and ready to drop in the hopper at the State House.
In fact, gun bills are expected to be a key part of the legislative session that begins Tuesday.
One is a bill that would allow employees to bring their guns to work...and leave them locked in their vehicle. Democratic representative Craig Ford of Gadsden and Republican senator Roger Bedford of Russellville are co-sponsoring that bill.
Republican senator Scott Beason plans to include a similar provision in a sweeping gun rights package. The Business Council of Alabama, however, opposes any such bill.
