Know your health number, improve your life

There are many numbers we have to remember on a daily basis....passwords, security codes, and phone numbers --- but when it comes to your health, do you know your numbers?

There are 4 important numbers doctors want you to know:

The first one is your blood pressure. It is an important number to know because it can indicate a risk of heart disease, stroke, or kidney disease, among other deadly diseases.

The second is your cholesterol. Know the difference between HDL, which is good cholesterol, and LDL, which is bad cholesterol. Higher levels of LDL are associated with heart attacks and strokes.

Also, know your weight and waist size. Those numbers are important for knowing your body mass index (BMI). Overweight patients are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease, arthritis, sleep apnea, acid reflux, and even cancer.

And last but not least, know your blood sugar. That number can tell you whether you may be pre-diabetic.

Doctors say knowing your four numbers can help you work towards a healthier lifestyle.{}
