Hickoryland BBQ in Jasper destroyed in Christmas Eve fire

In Jasper, a restaurant that had been in business for 20 years burned down on Christmas Eve.

Hickoryland Barbecue had been a main-stay in the community.{} There was also a group of men who had gathered at the restaurant since World War II.

One of the men, Sam Murphy, says some members would meet for coffee every morning.

The tables where they sat even had plaques with the names of the men who had been part of the "club" and who had passed away over the years.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Jasper fire department could not say whether the restaurant owners had insurance.
