High Blood Pressure

Many Americans have learned to manage their high blood pressure.

However, experts say there still is room for improvement.

Most people with high blood pressure are unaware they have the disease.

Cardiologist Heather Gornik says, "The prevalence of high blood pressure is about 30% in the United States. And very interestingly and importantly, among patients with high blood pressure about 30% of patients were not aware of their high blood pressure diagnosis."

Doctors recommend people have their{}blood pressure checked at least once a year.

Signs of the disease may not show until it's too late.
