Hundreds of people filled the pews of the Rising Star Baptist Church, Saturday, in Birmingham to say a final goodbye to one of the original Negro League baseball players.
Otha Bailey's career with the league began in 1949. He played as a catcher for many teams.
Bailey joined the Birmingham Black Barons in 1952, where his teammates gave him the nickname "Little Catch." Bailey played his last game in 1959 and spent the rest of his life in Birmingham with his wife and children.
He died, Tuesday, at UAB Hospital.
