Hoover Bucs preparing to take on rival Vestavia Hills

Hoover quarterback Connor Short says both teams will be ready to win on Friday night.

The Friday Night Blitz Game of the Week will feature one of the state's most intense rivalries when the Hoover Bucs take on the Vestavia Hills Rebels.

Over the years, the rivalry has at times been ugly, but since the arrival of Coach Josh Niblett at Hoover, the ugliness has dissipated to a degree.

Despite the growing civility, Niblitt says players from both teams dream about playing in this game.

"[Vestavia] kids grow up and can't wait to play Hoover, Hoover's kids grow up and can't wait to play Vestavia."{} Niblett said. "There's something about this week, and our kids know that and their kids know that."

Bucs quarterback Connor Short knows that the Rebels will be prepared and confident that they can take down the No. 1 team in the state.

"Vestavia always goes into it prepared.{} They believe that they are going to be prepared to beat us," Short said. "We know we're going to be prepared.{} I think that it's always going to be a good rivalry."
