Metropolitan Stadium will be the city of Hoover's latest improvement project.
The Hoover City Council has approved $600,000 in funds for repairs to 'The Met'.
Repairs include repainting big steel beams, block walls behind the seating area, light supports and catwalks, handrails, guardrails, aluminum seat backs, dugouts, metal roofing and the pavilion near right field.
'The Met' will also get new signs welcoming fans to Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The minor league Birmingham Barons moved out of 'The Met' after last season and are set to open Regions Field in downtown Birmingham.
Hoover Metropolitan Stadium will continue to host the SEC Baseball Tournament and some high school sporting events.
Hoover officials say they will continue to seek out other sporting events which will bring revenue to the city.
