Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of Regions Bank robbery suspect

Eric Nilse Thomas

A Crime Stoppers tip has led to the arrest of an Alabaster man wanted in connection with Thursday's robbery of Regions bank at Inverness Plaza.

Eric Nilse Thomas, 49, has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and is awaiting transfer to the Shelby County Jail, where he will be held on $120,000 bond.

Surveillance photo of Thomas released by Hoover police Thursday shortly after the robbery of Regions bank at Inverness Plaza.

Hoover Police Captain Jim Coker says a surveillance photo that was widely dispersed by the media through social media helped investigators identify the suspect within 12 hours of the robbery. Police were able to make an arrest less than 24 hours of the crime.
