Hoover Police: Woman set fire to home she was renting, charged with arson
Hoover Police have charged a 28-year-old woman in connection to an arson investigation that began in June of last year when a single family home, one that the suspect was renting at the time, was destroyed by fire.
April Love Chavers was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of Arson 2nd Degree for her alleged involvement in the fire.
On June 18, 2012 at 2:13 a.m., the Hoover Fire Department responded to a fully-involved house fire at 137 Pine Rock Lane. Arson investigators were able to determine that the fire started from multiple points of origin within the house.
Over the past several months, investigators have continued to gather evidence andconduct numerous interviews, and Chavers emerged as the primary suspect during thecourse of the investigation.
On Tuesday, investigators were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Chavers, and she was taken into custody the following day. She was transported to the Hoover City Jail and her bond was set at $30,000.
Chavers has since been released from custody after posting bail.
Although one arrest has been made, the arson investigation continues as detectives have determined there were others involved in burning the home.
