Over the Father's Day weekend, Birmingham City Councilor Steven Hoyt is asking men to join him in celebrating fathers. The third annual "Man Up" breakfast will be held Saturday, June 14th from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Atlantis Event Center in Ensley. The event is free and open to the public."It is my hope that the community will come out and show the city that we as men are dedicated to being great fathers," Councilor Hoyt said.Speakers will include Dr. Kirk Clarke, president of Sardis Baptist Church, Tony Smoke, vice-president of Marketing for Alabama Power, and Terry Smiley, Birmingham operations manager for Energen."Men like Dr. Clarke, Mr. Smoke, and Mr. Smiley are the kind of positive role models that our youth need to hear from," said Councilor Hoyt. "These men possess the type of values and morals that we hope to instill in our young men.
