Hueytown Fire and Rescue gets FEMA grant for equipment

Hueytown Fire and Rescue received big news on Thursday.{} Congressman Spencer Bachus notified HF/R that they will be the recipients of a $220,907 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from FEMA.

The money will be used for upgrades to their radio communication systems.{}

Fire Chief Scotty Morris stated "I was excited to receive the news from Congressman Bachus. We are grateful to Congressman Bachus for the support offered by him and his staff and to FEMA for providing us with the funds to move our department forward. This grant will enhance our capabilities in disaster preparedness and firefighter safety through more cutting-edge communications technology."

This upgrade will give Hueytown Fire/Rescue state of the art radio communications equipment and will greatly enhance their communications interoperability throughout Jefferson County. {}
