US News & World Report: Children's Of Alabama considered one of nation's best hospitals
For the fourth year in a row, Children's of Alabama is ranked among the nation's best children's hospitals. The ranking comes from US News & World Report Magazine. Six of Children's pediatric specialty services- Cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastrenterology and GI Surgery, Nephrology and Neurosurgery and pulmonary- were placed among the top 50 in the United States. "We are pleased to be recognized again this year for the type of care we offer here at Children's," said Children's CEO and president Mike Warren. "It's been an amazing year since the opening of our expansion last August and I think it is entirely appropriate that the focus of this award is on the care being given to children inside the new building.""Children's of Alabama deserves high praise," said Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. "Ranking shows the dedication and expertise that Children's brings to the care of children who need those qualities the most. We think it is important to identify and call attention to pediatric centers like this one."Last year, there were more than 670,000 outpatient visits to Children's of Alabama. More than 21,000 surgeries were performed last year.
