In its 17th year, George Lindsey film festival in full swing
TheUniversity of North Alabama's annual George Lindsey Film Festival is underway in Florence.
Thisyear's three-day event is a salute to the "The Year of theFilmmaker." Actors and directors will present discussions about makingmovies, and the screenings will take place on the University of North Alabamacampus.
Thefestival was founded in 1998 by Lindsey, who attended North Alabama and wasbest known for his role as Goober on "The Andy Griffith Show."
Lindseydied in 2012, but the festival is now in its 17th year. Movie screenings willbe held Friday and Saturday, and they're all free and open to the public.
The UNAoffers a major in film and digital media production.
