Auburn's Jeff Whitaker could miss entire season with injury

Jeff Whitaker's knee injury could keep him out the entire season.

Auburn's defensive tackle suffered a right knee injury in August that required surgery. Coach Gus Malzahn would not speculate when or if Whitaker would be healthy enough to play this season.

"Probably in the near future we'll talk through that," Malzahn said. "AT this point things are up in the air."

Whitaker was a projected starter before he was injured. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound senior had 12 tackles, one tackle for loss and half a sack last season.

Five Auburn starters on defense have missed at least one game this season.
