Internet use linked to depression

You might be able to tell if someone is depressed by watching how they use the internet.

A new study found students who show signs of depression tend to browse the web more randomly and switch between several applications.

Researchers at the Missouri University of Science and Technology found nine patterns of internet usage that may indicate depression.

The researchers followed 216 undergraduate students, and analyzed their usage to find the patterns.

The study will be published in the upcoming issue of I-E-E-E Technology and Society Magazine.
