The Birmingham Board of Education will hear a report Tuesday on its governance.
Dr. Ed Richardson, the system's state-appointed chief financial officer will present his team's findings. Richardson tells ABC 33/40 the meeting will include his brief confirmation that there are governance problems followed by a discussion among board members on possible solutions.
The education accreditation agency AdvanceED has been looking into the district's accreditation, giving the board until October 1 to submit solutions.
Richardson anticipates Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon to draft the board members' suggestions, and the board to approve it by September 25.
The state team took over the board after its attempts to fire Witherspoon.
