Investigators Plan to Show University of South Alabama Campus Shooting Surveillance Video

Investigators plan to show the news media surveillance video of the campus police shooting death of a naked University of Southern Alabama student. Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran says the video will be shown Thursday afternoon and should answer questions about why officer Trevis Austin shot 18-year-old Gil Collar early Saturday.{}{}{}

Collar was unarmed. Investigators say he had taken LSD at a music festival in Mobile and was having a drug-induced meltdown when he banged on the glass of the campus police station.{} Investigators say Austin came out of the station with his weapon drawn and shot and killed Collar after the student got too close to his weapon.{} Other university students have protested the shooting.{}{} {}An attorney for Collar's parents has said he will hold a news conference Thursday morning.
