Is your city or county participating in the sales tax holiday?
If you haven't thought much about the start of school, this weekend could get you in the mood.
Alabama's tax free weekend is August 3-5. The state will waive its 4% sales tax, and many cities and counties are doing the same with their local sales taxes. Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Anniston and Gadsden will participate -- as will Tuscaloosa, Calhoun and Etowah counties.
Jefferson county, however, will not waive its tax.
Items that qualify for the tax break include clothing, school supplies, books, computers and computer equipment. To see if your city or county is participating, click here.
