Jasper police officer injured at a domestic violence call

A Jasper police lieutenant was injured at a domestic violence call Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Highways 69 and 269.{}

Chief Connie Rowe says police were trying to question a male when he attempted to leave the scene. While leaving, the suspect struck an officer with a vehicle and hit a cruiser when shots were fired. No one was struck by bullets. The suspect was apprehended.

The lieutenant was treated at Walker Baptist Medical Center and released.

No word on charges on the suspect.
