JeffCo sewer creditors want sewer rate plan now

A{}sewer creditor wants Jefferson County to raise rates now.

Thursday,{}Financial Guaranty Insurance Company{}will ask the federal bankruptcy judge to force the county to take a look at sewer rate increases immediately. Attorneys for{}FGIC claim the county is using bankruptcy and its general fund issues to delay sewer action.

In court documents, the attorneys request{}the rate{}"achieves the maximum revenue possible while not exceeding state reasonableness levels."

Sewer rates haven't increased since 2008.
