JeffCo to take action Monday on bankruptcy
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
Jefferson County's bankruptcy plan may be filed. But decisions still must be made concerning the more than four billion dollar filing.
Monday morning, commissioners will go into executive session with attorneys to discuss the more than Chapter 9 bankruptcy. They will then meet in a special called administrative services committee meeting to publicly take action on the undisclosed issue.
The county filed a plan to end the nation's largest municipal bankruptcy filing just two weeks ago. A federal bankruptcy judge will either approve or reject it August 6.
The county's goal is to exit bankruptcy by the end of the year.
