Jefferson County Sheriff's Office welcomes new K9 deputy

The Jefferson County Sheriff's office welcomes the arrival of "Naiyah." Naiyah is the latest addition to the Sheriff's K9 Unit. She is a 14-week old blood hound and she comes to the sheriff's office through a donation from the Jimmy Ryce Center for Victims of Predatory Abduction. The organization donates bloodhounds to law enforcement agencies for use in helping find missing or abducted children. Naiyah will begin training immediately and is expected to be deployed with the Sheriff's Patrol Division in about six months. In addition to finding missing or abducted children, she will also track criminal suspects and missing adults.
