      Jefferson County BOE could choose next superintendent Thursday

      Thursday afternoon, the Jefferson County school district will step forward into its future.

      The district's board of education{}is expected to select the system's new school superintendent.{} Dr. Phil Hammonds will retire in February.

      Thursday's board meeting begins at 2p.m.{}and is open to the public.{}

      The three remaining finalists for the job include: Dale Robbins, Associate Superintendent of Gwinnett County, Georgia schools, Dr. Karyle Green, Superintendent of schools in New Haven, Indiana, and Dr. Stephen Nowlin, Superintendent Lee County, Alabama schools.
