Jefferson County courthouses cleared after bomb threat
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
Update:All buildings have been cleared and reopened. Call came in around 8:30 to multiple county offices. Threat was made against an unspecified court room, so all three county buildings in Birmingham were evacuated. Dogs from Birmingham and Vestavia Hills helped clear them.
Both the Jefferson County courthouse and the criminal justice building downtown were evacuated around 9 a.m. Wednesday after a bomb threat.
Bomb sniffing dogs are now inside searching the criminal justice building. They'll then go through the Jefferson County courthouse before anyone is allowed back inside.
Jefferson County employees have been told it should take another hour to check out both courthouses.
