Jimmie Hale Mission serving up reasons for thanks

The Jimmie Hale Mission in Birmingham held its annual Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.{} For people who could not travel to its kitchen in Birmingham, Volunteers joined Meals on Wheels to deliver hot meals. Nearly eighty drivers made the deliveries. "God works through people. So give them a smile and a kind word. Bless them with your presence and make their day a bit brighter," explained volunteer, Tony Cooper.

Organizers and volunteers say there is no better way to celebrate the holiday. "To see them want to share their Thanksgiving morning with others less fortunate is really a moving and emotional thing for us. It kind of got my motor running," said Jimmie Hale Mission Director, Tony Cooper.

Jimmie Hale Mission fed an estimated 2,000 people Thursday. For more information on the non-profit organization and ways to donate, click here.
