JSU ranked No. 6 in Sports Network preseason poll

Jacksonville State added another preseason football honor. The Gamecocks will begin the season ranked No. 6 in the Sports Network Poll, the highest preseason ranking in the program's Division I history in regards to the FCS Top 25. JSU is also ranked No. 8 in the preseason FCS Coaches Poll, which was released earlier this week. John Grass is going into his first season as head coach. He was JSU's offensive coordinator last season when the team put up 6,637 yards of total offense and 528 points, both are school records. The offense set a total of 49 school records, 13 OVC records and three NCAA records in 2013.

The Gamecocks went 11-4 and 5-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference a year ago and caught fire at the right time, rolling to the school's first two FCS Playoff wins before falling in the Quarterfinals at Eastern Washington. JSU is also picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference by the league's coaches and sports information directors, and also the media.

Eastern Washington is ranked No. 1 in the Sports Network Poll and three-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State is ranked second.
