The lawyers argue teeth whitening is safe and the law allows dentists to create a monopoly.

      The state dental board is defends the law, saying the products could pose a health threat.

      Legislators passed the law in question, three years ago. Violators can be fined $5,000 and jailed for a year. {}Although, consumers can still buy the products in retail stores and use them at home under the law.
