Jury deciding fate of man charged with capital murder in shooting death of Gate City mom
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama -- A 12-member jury is set to decide the fate of a man charged with capital murder in the April 2013 shooting death of a Gate City woman.
Corderious McClellan told jurors he fired six shots that day, but he said none of the bullets were intended for Sherrie Williams, who was killed inside her home while holding her newborn baby. " I didn't know she was there," said McClellan.
Evidence and testimony showed the shooting began with an altercation between two women outside of grocery store on Georgia Road.
Once the fight ends, a friend of McClellan is seen chasing a man named Torey Williams. As Williams runs away, McClellan is seen in pulling out a gun and firing shots several shots.
McClellan testified that after he fired the shots he ran away and traveled to Atlanta to attend a football game.
