A juvenile was arrested Saturday afternoon after leading Shelby County sheriff's deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
Just before 3 p.m., a deputy spotted a car matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen Friday and attempted to make a stop on Highway 280 at Doug Baker Boulevard. The juvenile refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect crashed the car in an area near Hwy. 280 and Shelby Co. Hwy. 41 then continued his attempt to elude law enforcement on foot. The juvenile was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident.
Due to the suspect's age, the juvenile's identity is being withheld.
The stolen vehicle will be processed for evidence before being returned to its owner.
In a news release, Sheriff Curry offered thanks to Alabama State Troopers, Hoover police and the Cahaba Valley Fire Department for assisting in the pursuit and arrest of the suspect.
