Lawsuit over state bids dropped

A lawsuit filed earlier this month against the Alabama Legislature claiming state bid law was violated when a contract was awarded to provide security guards at Alabama State House entrances has been dismissed.Montgomery County Circuit Judge Gene Reese threw out the lawsuit by National Security of Alabama Tuesday. The lawsuit claimed the winning company had ties to House Speaker Mike Hubbard, who testified Tuesday that he had no ties to the company, DSI Security Services.Reese's order dismissing the suit says contracts involving security plans are exempt from the bid law.Democratic Rep. Joe Hubbard, a Montgomery attorney, represented the plaintiffs and argued the contract was invalid because of errors in the proposal for bids.
