Friday, Governor Robert Bentley announced a nearly $6,000 grant to improve public safety in Leeds. The money will be used for the purchase of video cameras intended for police officers to wear. Officers said the video will provide evidence for investigations and prosecutions and, according to a news release from the Governor's Office, "help ensure that officers follow established protocols at all times."Leeds plans to outfit every officer with a camera and hopes to have them by October.
