Layoffs affect less than 100 at Fort Rucker, better than expected

A union official says fewer layoffs are expected at a defense contractor at Fort Rucker.

A letter from a local workers' union said less than 100 layoff notices were expected, Friday. The Dothan Eagle reports the union was originally expecting layoffs for 460 employees.

Union official, Steve Crumb, wrote a letter thanking people who called Congress to express their concerns about the layoffs at Fort Rucker.

AFS spokeswoman, Lisa Gee, said the company would not comment on the layoffs.

The company provides maintenance support for the Aviation Center Logistics Command.
