Lightning may have sparked church fire

Unity Baptist Church caught fire late Monday night.{} Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Quinton Brown says he believes lightning started the fire.{} Right now, they think lightning struck the roof of the church.{} The flames spread from the roof and steeple.{} Eventually, the roof collapsed on the sanctuary.{} It is said to be a complete loss.Church leaders could find out later Tuesday if they can salvage the educational building.{} So far, there is no word on where church services will be held.This fire destroyed a lot of the hard work the congregation had given.{} Pastor Gene Dockery says members had painted, installed new carpet and even padded the pews.{} He says, however, "we're not sad that it's gone so to speak, because it's going to get better."{} Dockery says they will look at this loss as an opportunity to grow.A lot of the congregation rushed out to the church when they heard it was burning.{} They gathered to support one another.
