Linda Mays is an award winning journalist who anchors the Midday and 5:00 News on ABC 33/40. She also keeps viewers up to date on the latest medical developments through her daily "Your Health" reports. Linda joined ABC 33/40 in 1996. Four years later, she was named the state's Best News Anchor by the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
Linda began her broadcast career in 1988 as host of a weekly public affairs program and Community Affairs Director at WBRC. Before she left there, Linda was anchoring the 6:00 News and reporting on health. For several years, she was commentator of the National Dance Team Championships which aired on ESPN.
Awarded media woman of distinction, Linda has served as a motivational speaker to all ages. She works with various community groups and ministries to help improve the lives of families, inspire the youth and encourage education. She has received several awards for her dedication to journalism, the community, and foster children in Alabama. Linda is a 1986 graduate of The University Of Alabama At Birmingham, and served as President of the UAB National Alumni Society. Linda lives with her son and daughter in Birmingham.
