A Chilton County church celebrated a remarkable milestone, Sunday.
Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Clanton marked its 155th anniversary with a special homecoming service. It included a concert by a local gospel group and brought in more than 200 people.
Many long-time members of the church were among the crowd, Sunday, including William Curtis Daniel, who was baptized at the church in 1936.
"When I was going to church, there would be no drums in this church," he said. "There would be no guitar in this church. There would be a piano and an organ, but now, you heard this today, didn't you? But that's the difference. You've got to have it for the young [to] keep the church going."
The first church was a one-room log building.
The current building has served the congregation since 1982.
