Lots to do on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE - FL —
The Atlantic coast near Fort Lauderdale has more to offer than salt water and golden sand.
For Wayne Mascolo it offers a job.
"This is my office right here," he said. "I've been doing it for 30 years."
He owns Aloha Water Sports, which offers vacationers everything from paddle boards and bungee jumps to jet skis and parasailing.
"When the weather is great, you know, it's second to none," he said. "We're really busy out here."
But this week isn't all about work.
The word on the beach is "football" and the question is "Who's going to win?"
"I have to say Notre Dame," one jet ski rider said.
"I got Notre Dame," Chris said.
Aloha worker Chris has picked Notre Dame.
"I think Alabama's going to win," Jay said.
Chris's co-worker, Jay, has Alabama.
"I like their offense and pretty good defense," Jay said. "I think they're going to win by the air but they got a pretty good running game."
At stake is a $10 wager. Chris says the match up should be worth it.
"It's going to be a good game," he said. "I know that."
But that bet is just between the workers. Mascolo doesn't care who wins as long as the fans' trip is worth it.
"Some people, they're mad at the world and you don't know what they've been through," Mascolo said. "And they come out here and they forget about their worries and if I can get a smile on their face when they're done parasailing or riding a wave runner...it makes my whole day."
