A task force will study the city of Tuscaloosa's student rental housing market by order of the Mayor.
Mayor Walt Maddox issued an executive order Wednesday creating a task force. Maddox said, "The recent boom of new student housing developments has produced a great deal of questions and concerns from all corners of our community. It's critical the city receive and review comprehensive data and input from experts to examine it thoroughly."
The task force will include from 16-20 members appointed by various local organizations. The goal will be to examine the student rental housing market, planning, zoning, and other regulatory frameworks and infrastructure needs.
The findings and recommendations are to be presented to Mayor Maddox and the Tuscaloosa City Council by Tuesday, November 5.
