Man accused of using police department to scam people

A man is behind bars for trying to solicit money for a nonexistent charity, in the name of the police department.{} Police say 49-year-old Melvin Lee Queen was going door-to-door Sunday along 12th Street in Tuscaloosa.{} A caller said the man was asking for donations in the name of Healing House and the Disabled Children's Fund in the name of the Tuscaloosa Police Department.Officers say they knew Queen from previously dealing with him.{} He was arrested and held on a $500 dollar bond.
