Man faces murder charge in Gadsden State killing
ANNISTON - AL —
A murder charge has now been filed against a man arrested last week in connection with the theft of a Cedar Bluff woman's car. The Anniston Star reports that 37-year-old Vennie Leroy Keaton has been charged with murder in Cherokee County.
Police began searching for Keaton last week after 32-year-old Melissa Leann Hudgins of Cedar Bluff was found dead in a building at the Centre campus of Gadsden State Community College. U.S. Marshals arrested Keaton Friday in Cookeville, Tenn., where he was charged with theft of Hudgins' car.
Authorities say Hudgins and Keaton were co-workers with a cleaning company that did work for the college. Keaton is being held at the Cherokee County Jail without bond.
