Man fined for jumping from bridge

A man has been ordered to pay a $1,400 fine for jumping from a bridge, which led to a search by several law enforcement agencies. 24 year old Justin Jay Rich has been ordered to pay the city for the cost of the search and court costs. Rich was also given two years probation.

Authorities searched along the river from a helicopter in October, believing someone attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the Black Warrior Parkway Bridge. An Internet video later surfaced of Rich making the 110 foot jump.

Rich pleaded guilty to obstructing government operations. A charge of disorderly conduct was dropped.
