ABC 33/40 reporter Donna Francavilla has learned the identity of the man found shot to death in a street in Jefferson County Saturday. According to relatives of the victim, 19-year-old Charles David Thomas Jr. died from two gunshot wounds to his hip and back just two blocks from his home in Mulga.
Relatives also said the victim's mother drove a possible suspect in the shooting to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to speak with investigators, though, authorities have yet to confirm the family members' account.
The victim's distraught father -- Charles David Thomas -- was grief-stricken over his son's death. He later returned to the exact location where his son was discovered deceased and laid down in the spot where the teen had taken his last breath earlier in the night.
An investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
