Man shot while trying to break into home in Ensley

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Birmingham police are investigating a shooting in Ensley Wednesday morning that sent one person to the hospital. Officers responded to a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg at a home in the 1300 block of 60th Street around 11:30 a.m. According to police, the owner of a nearby home on Avenue M shot the man in the leg as he tried to break into his house. The burglary suspect, whose injuries are considered serious due to the amount of blood he has lost, was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.Information regarding possible criminal charges hasn't been released.
