MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. -- Many supporters of Mountain Brook's Crestline Village are rallying behind the Piggly Wiggly as lease negotiations continue.

"It serves many valuable resources in this community," said Piggly Wiggly supporter Kathryn Corey. "Folks will not support a drug store on this lot."

A meeting to discuss the store's possibly closing is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at the Emmet O'Neal Library.

The store's lease expires November 30th, and rumors are circulating about a possible replacement.

Piggly Wiggly's Andy Virciglio released the following statement Monday: "We are still in lease discussions with the landlord's representative. Everything about this store fits Crestline, and it is humbling to see how vocal our customers are in wanting us to stay. We are planning on making that happen."{}Efforts to reach the property owner were unsuccessful.
