Matt Pitt, out of jail on Palm Sunday

A youth evangelist serving time for impersonating a peace officer has been released from the Shelby County jail.

Matt Pitt was forced to serve his one-year suspended sentence after he was arrested in Jefferson County for allegedly claiming to be a sheriff's deputy last August.

Pitt was already on probation for a similar charge in Shelby County in 2012.

He pleaded guilty to those charges.

Pitt still faces the charges in Jefferson County.
