      Mental health community offers free seminar in Birmingham

      Based on the U.S. prevalence of schizophrenia, an estimated 1% or 38,000 people in Alabama, including an estimated 1,670 people in the city of Birmingham, may live with schizophrenia.

      According to a survey commissioned by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., in collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Birmingham, there is a great need for education about schizophrenia, a serious mental illness, and available local resources.

      Tuesday, January 28, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., {}a free educational program is being{}held{}at The Double Tree in Birmingham.
